Menagerie Theatre Company

Menagerie Theatre Company is the leading independent new writing theatre company in the East of England. Based in Cambridge, we have been creating theatre for over sixteen years and have a regional, national and international reputation for the development of first class new writing for the stage. We seek out and support talented writers in order to develop and produce innovative new theatre. As well as touring widely, we run workshops, writer development courses and produce the annual Hotbed Festival in Cambridge.

The Ideas Stage is an initiative from Menagerie to develop creative partnerships with universities.  We have produced a diverse range of exciting projects, all of which use theatre to explore the scientific, historical, political and cultural ideas which shape our world. More information

One Page Play


Well done to Lester Lloyd Reason who won the One Page Play Competition!  Also, well done to Andrew Barker who won the 15 and under One Page Play Competition! £100 has been donated to Age Concern on behalf of Lester, and £50 to WWF on behalf of Andrew.

Winner of ‘Best New Play’ at Brighton Fringe!

Joint awarded by New Writing South and Brighton Fringe.

Menagerie’s new play, bloominauschwitz, by Richard Fredman opened in May at Cambridge Junction before touring the South East and beyond throughout May and June.  The tour culminated in a performance at Soho Theatre in August.
