Menagerie Theatre Company

Menagerie Theatre Company is the leading independent new writing theatre company in the East of England. Based in Cambridge, we have been creating theatre for over sixteen years and have a regional, national and international reputation for the development of first class new writing for the stage. We seek out and support talented writers in order to develop and produce innovative new theatre. As well as touring widely, we run workshops, writer development courses and produce the annual Hotbed Festival in Cambridge.

‘What’s Up Doc?’ Workshop with New Writing South

We have been invited to give a writing workshop, with a twist, at New Writing South, in Brighton.   The focus will be our ‘What’s Up Doc?’ commissioning process.  The workshop is for writers who are inspired by contemporary ideas – how they can be distilled and articulated for the stage.  Monday February 22nd, 6 – 8.30pm.  For more details and how to book, click here.

Winner of ‘Best New Play’ at Brighton Fringe!

Awarded by New Writing South and Brighton Fringe.

Menagerie’s new play, bloominauschwitz, by Richard Fredman opened in May at Cambridge Junction before its preview tour in early summer 2015.  The tour culminated in a performance at the Theatre World international festival in Brno, Czech Republic.  Following final development, it will go on full UK national tour in Autumn 2016

This brilliant new script directed by Rachel Aspinwall and performed by Menagerie’s Patrick Morris, sees Leopold Bloom explode from the pages of James Joyce’s Ulysses to confront his future.
